Meals 4 Me

Figma Website Prototype and Physical 18 x 12 x 4 in. Meal Kit Prototype

Meals 4 Me was built around a familiar problem: it is difficult to grocery shop for just one person, and ingredients often go to waste before they can be used. Working with a partner, I helped develop a meal kit concept designed to make cooking for one simpler and more efficient. The service provides pre-portioned ingredients and clear recipe instructions, reducing waste while making everyday meals more approachable. Our final work includes a full Figma website prototype and a physical prototype that visualizes how the brand and system would function in practice.

Initial Research

We began this project by sending out a Google Form to understand how single-person households experience cooking and meal planning. Our questions focused on stress points, motivation, time constraints, and shopping habits. The responses highlighted common challenges such as wasted ingredients, lack of inspiration, and difficulty maintaining consistent meal routines. Alongside this, we created a concept map to break down patterns from our research and clarify the core problems we wanted to address. Together, the survey and mapping process helped us hone our direction and define the outcome we were working toward.

Product Testing

In this phase we began developing individual recipes and building out fully portioned prototypes. Using the kitchen space in my family’s butcher shop, we were able to prepare each meal in a realistic working environment and refine ingredients, serving sizes, and packaging formats. A significant amount of research went into selecting balanced recipes, determining appropriate portions for single-person households, and preparing ingredients so they were simple and efficient to use. During this stage we also started prototyping our website and testing physical shipping containers, comparing costs and exploring how the service could function from both a digital and logistical standpoint.

Final Prototype

In the final stage of the project, we assembled fully realized meal-kit prototypes that combined our refined recipes, portioned ingredients, and packaging system. Each box was packed as it would be for an actual customer, allowing us to test how well the ingredients fit together, how clearly the labels communicated information, and how the kit held up during transport. We also evaluated insulation options, box structure, and the overall unboxing experience to ensure the service felt organized and approachable. This stage gave us a clear picture of how the service would function in practice and helped confirm that our recipe research, portion sizing, and packaging decisions created a cohesive and functional final product.

Final Design

My partner and I created a Figma prototype that represents the full website experience for Meals 4 Me. The design communicates our mission as a brand by highlighting simplicity, clarity, and support for people cooking for themselves. We also introduced our logo, which is inspired by the four suggested food groups on a balanced plate. This concept helped us visually reinforce the idea of well-rounded meals and informed the structure of our overall brand identity.
