A little about me…

Hi, I'm Josie Homan!

I’m a communication designer who blends psychology and design to tell stories that connect. I believe good design lives in the details, where clarity and emotion meet to create work that feels both thoughtful and lasting.

I'm completing my B.F.A. in Communication Design at Miami University, where I've explored how design can connect people through empathy, research, and storytelling. My work ranges from packaging and branding to publication design, often combining function and feeling. Projects like my Magnetic Monopoly Board, Short Leg Brewing brand system, and Family Cookbook reflect my love for creating designs that are both practical and personal.

Before studying design, I was a psychology student, and that background continues to shape how I think about communication and behavior. I'm motivated by design that helps people see, understand, and connect in meaningful ways. My process balances structure and experimentation. Research grounds my ideas while trial and error allows creativity to lead the way. Each project evolves through exploration until it feels honest, intentional, and human.

Outside of design, I find inspiration in everyday moments and small details. When I'm not in the studio, I'm likely with friends trying something new, making mosaics, or spending time with my dogs.
